  • What is breathwork?
Breathwork is a practice that involves conscious control and manipulation of the breath to achieve a wide variety of physical, mental, and emotional benefits.
  • What are the benefits of breathwork?
Breathwork can provide numerous benefits, including stress reduction, enhanced mental clarity, emotional resiliency, trauma healing, nervous system regulation, increased energy, better sleep, and improved physical health. It can also help you develop a deeper connection with your inner Self.
  • What different types of breathwork techniques are there?
There are countless ways to approach breathwork. Functional techniques such as pranayama found in yoga and meditation classes, and therapeutic styles like what Lindsay facilitates. Both are incorporated into sessions.
  • Is breathwork suitable for everyone?
Functional breathwork is generally suitable for most people, regardless of age or fitness level. However, therapeutic breathwork may not be recommended for everyone as there are contraindications. It's always best to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning any new practice, including breathwork. Please see the following list of contraindications for therapeutic breathwork: ● Pregnancy ● Epilepsy ● Ocular issues ● Heart disease/history of heart irregularities ● High or low blood pressure that is not controlled ● High stage osteoporosis ● Severe asthma without inhaler present ● Aneurysm ● Stroke ● Anti-clottting medication ● Schizophrenia diagnosis If you would like to schedule an appointment and any of these contraindications apply, please email Lindsay to discuss further details.
  • How long does it take to experience the benefits of breathwork?
Because we are working at such a deep level in your body and shift you into an altered state of consciousness, the benefits of breathwork are not bound by 3D reality, and can be experienced immediately for some. Others may require multiple sessions to notice significant changes, because there can be many layers to work through. The frequency of sessions has a great impact on results, while being mindful not to tax the nervous system.
  • Can I practice breathwork on my own, or do I need a practitioner?
While functional breathwork techniques can be practiced independently, it's recommended to work with a certified breathwork facilitator when diving into therapeutic styles for your safety. Lindsay provides functional breathing exercises in each session that you can practice at home.
  • How long does a typical breathwork session last?
    90 minutes.
  • What should I expect during my first session?
1:1 sessions begin with discussion to build a connection before diving into any healing work. Lindsay gives a brief overview as to what your session will look like, the science behind breathwork, and what you may experience. We then move into the breathwork portion, where you're guided through a diaphragmatic breath cycle for 45 minutes. Your breath, along with coaching and gentle movement will support you in releasing stress and processing unresolved emotion that your body has been holding onto. Sessions look different each time, and vary from person to person. At the end you are guided into a deeply relaxed state where you stay for several minutes before moving into closing discussion and optional journaling.
  • How often should I practice breathwork?
It’s important to let your body and nervous system tell you how often to practice therapeutic breathwork. For some, once every couple of weeks is great, others need a month in between sessions. Lindsay is here to help all clients get clear on the frequency of sessions.
  • What are the differences between 1:1 sessions and group sessions? Where should I start?
1:1 sessions provides an opportunity to have personalized, custom support based on your needs, wants and past experiences. Lindsay tailors her trauma-informed coaching to you and your body, and it's a great way to get comfortable with the modality and really move the needle forward with your healing. Group sessions are equally as powerful, but in their own way. You won't receive the individualized support, but Lindsay makes sure to float around and provide assistance to everyone during the session. It creates a profound level of healing and vulnerability in community that is hard to find. Groups are also listed at a lower price point to make this work as accessible as possible. There is no wrong place to start.
